Without a doubt, most of my patients who see me in the office will be asked at one point or another if they stretch. How do I know if they are or are not regularly stretching? Usually by their overall flexibility.
For years, even as a Physical Therapist, I attempted to exercise without taking time to stretch and strengthen. I was a busy mom who was struggling to fit the exercise in already! Time and time again, as I trained for the next race, an injury would rear its ugly head, threatening to derail me. After the third or fourth time, I finally got the message. I needed to stretch and strength train regularly if I was going to get to the starting line healthy. Back then, the starting line was for a race. Today, it’s just about remaining healthy and taking care of the body God gave me.
Regardless of your fitness goals, stretching is an integral part of you remaining healthy, and often staying out of my office A patient recently asked me for what stretches were best for morning and night.
